Boredom busters for long workdays

Match the toy to the pet's energy: high-energy pets need a workout before you leave, calm pets just need something to chew or sniff. A bored pet finds its own projects, usually your shoes.

Toys worth rotating

Put out 2–3 toys at a time and swap them every few days, so old toys feel new again.

  • Snuffle mat for sniffing out kibble — snuffle mat
  • Puzzle feeder with adjustable difficulty — dog puzzle toy
  • Stuffable rubber toy, frozen overnight — stuffable chew toy
  • For cats: treat ball and wand toy for a pre-work play session — cat treat ball · cat wand toy

The 10-minute routine that helps most

  1. Five minutes of hard play or a brisk walk.
  2. Five minutes of a sniffing or training game.
  3. Hand over the frozen toy as you walk out, so leaving means something good.
